Queen Mathilde of Belgium looked chic in a pink today as she took her son to meet his new teacher on the first day of term.

Prince Emmanuel, 13, was dressed in a blue polo shirt and dark coloured trousers, for his first day back at the school. The teenage royal attends a school called Eureka, in Leuven – just outside of Brussels.

His mother, the Belgian royal, 46, looked like she was reassuring her son as she put a motherly arm round his shoulder, as they made their way to the school on foot.

Dressed in a chic fitted pink trouser suit, with a white t-shirt underneath, the mother made sure she was dressed for the special occasion.

Queen Mathilde has three other children with husband King Philippe – including Princess Elisabeth, who is her eldest at 17, Prince Gabriel, 16 and Princess Eléonore, who is her youngest at 11.

The Belgium royal family have had a relatively quiet summer – in July Emmanuel joined his family as they led the country’s National Day celebrations in Brussels.
